Gurkha cigars are well known for being full-flavored and full-bodied.
Signature 1887 is no different. Like the other cigars in Gurkha's prestigious
portfolio, this line is well constructed, produces a great aroma, and is complex
while still maintaining its own level of uniqueness.
Signature 1887 comes packaged in a handsome black (maduro) or red (natural) box
each containing 48 cigars. The cigars are composed of extensively aged Peruvian
and Indian long-fillers, bound with a smooth Dominican binder, and finished with
a hearty Nicaraguan wrapper. This blend yields a complex smoke that is medium in
body and layered with rich subtleties. In keeping with some of Gurkha's
traditions, the size is a thick and enjoyable 6 x 55 generating an easy draw and
creamy smoke.

 Gary J. Arzt
I was down in Key West a week or so ago and I was reminded, once again,
how much Duval Street resembles Bourbon Street in New Orleans. One mad,
drunken, outdoor fraternity party, with people behaving as they would never
behave at home! But, they're pretty much just having a good time and letting off
steam. Nonetheless, it is not something that really attracts me, and I was
fortunate to find an oasis, a refuge, if you will, of tranquility and gentility,
when I walked into Grumpy's Cigar Shoppe at 335-F Duval Street
(1.305.295.0696), and encountered Steve and Larry, the proprietors.
My friend and colleague, Alan Kaye and I spent several hours at Grumpy's
enjoying good conversation, laughs, great smokes and all that one enjoys in the
civilized ambiance of ... |

 Christian Eiroa
Cigar Review owner Kevin Godbee continues with an enlightening, educational
and fun interview with Christian Eirora, President of Camacho Cigars. We learned
how Christian goes about developing cigars, from seed, to blend, to
taste-testing, to the packaging on the shelf.
We had an in-depth conversation about "Authentic Corojo" seed tobacco. The
interesting background about "Corojo" Tobacco goes back to the 1930's. It
originated on a farm in Cuba's legendary Vuelta Abajo region named Santa Ines
del Corojo. For decades Corojo was the ideal wrapper on just about all Cuban
cigars.
However, Corojo is difficult to grow, has low yields and is highly susceptible
to blue mold. The original, renowned Corojo was phased out and hybrids were
developed.
Camacho claims to have the only "Authentic Corojo" tobacco from seeds given to
them directly from the owner of the original farm.

Rolled with specially selected ligero leaf, all top quality, the Serie V
packs a punch due to its full body; however, its strength does not dominate the
experience. The specially aged and fermented tobaccos make for a complex flavor
that adds layers of enticing notes of pepper, leather and earthy undertones.
